Our Conductor
Adam Cook will be taking up the baton to conduct the Albany Sinfonia for Season 3, 2024!
Adam is a pianist, composer/arranger and teacher based in Denmark. He began his studies in the Great Southern with jazz pianist, Will Upson (who is also the founder of the Albany Sinfonia) at High School, and later with composer Roger Smalley and pianist Anna Sleptsova at UWA. He also studied in France with Jean-Paul Sevilla.
Adam was Principal Accompanist for the Australian Children’s Choir, touring and performing in major European cities. Since returning home to Albany in 2020, Adam has helped conduct both Albany Choral Society and Denmark Baroque. He also runs a private teaching studio, and performs regularly as a conductor and classical, jazz and popular piano and keyboards player in many local ensembles.
The program for this season, will include Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, excerpts from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, Finlandia and some jazzy numbers arranged by Will Upson.
Concerts will be on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 November at Wesley Church. Ticket information will be released in October.
