Gerald’s Musical Adventure
On the last Saturday in August, Albany Sinfonia was lucky enough to be joined by Gerald the Giraffe for a fantastic musical experience. Yvette Elms read Gerald’s beloved story book Giraffes Can’t Dance to a lively audience who danced along while the orchestra, led by Kathryn MacNeil, played a marvellous selection of classical music to embellish Gerald’s story. Gerald was finally able to dance to his own tune with help from Albany’s finest classical musicians and the ever-enthusiastic Albany Sinfonia audience.
Gerald had a busy week leading up to the concert, visiting the Albany Town Hall, going to see The Fairy Queen, grabbing a kebab on York St and popping into the Albany Public Library to make sure they had a copy of his book. You can catch up with Gerald’s adventures on Albany Sinfonia’s Facebook page.
Those who came to the concert would know there is colouring-in competition with a lovely picture of Gerald for budding artists (young and old!) to make their mark on. Gerald is busy judging the entries right now and the winners will be announced soon!
